naver had this happen??and more

ok last night i got two clowns and when i woke up one was stuck between the pre-filter on my powerhead
and ther glass of my tank and he was dead

any body ever had that happen ?? ...and my racoon butterfly is running in to the walls of my tank fast too like he's blind ans swimming arounnd fast and running in to things ??

Yoshi,
You do not mention live sand in the signature - how much do you have ?What are the water parameters? How long has this been set up? I think a little history/context would help a great deal with being able to offer suggestions. How long have the other fish been in the tank?

Hey yoshi! WOW that is scary! Is your tank grounded? It sounds like you might have had a little too much electricity hit your tank. I have had a tank zapped before and the fish were acting the same. I had a short in a heater wire due to a 18" Pacu that love tearing up everything in the tank. I was lucky I seen it before I stuck a hand in . After that I made sure my tanks are grounded at the socket and in the ground. I hope this isn`t your problem. Ouch!

dont matter any more there fine at the moment i think it's cause my ammonia is a little hight which his being fixed..and it's been set up for two months .. thanks for the thought of too much electricity hiting my tank ill look at my stuff to see if theres any thing shorting out...

If you stick your fingers in the tank you will know if you have a short.

or stick a lightbulb base in the tank and see if it lights up hehe

lol well do works better then you think ...... no short or any thing i think it just has to do with the ammonia being a little high could that be ?

Yoshi,
High ammonia is certainly a problem. Depending on a bunch of factors pH etc. a ammonia level could easily start to effect the fish. You do not say how high but I would probably start with a normal water change and see if that helps bring it down a bit.

the ammonia is at .25 but i havent checked it yet since yesterday and i added ammonia detox.....im going to do a water change today afterwork..

Yoshi,
I think the bio load got ahead of the nitrifying bacteria. At .25 I would certainly keep up on the water changes. IMO doubling up on your normal schedule (or what should be a normal schedule) would probably be good for a little while. I am afraid you will continue to experience problems while the ammonia is this high and other fish will become susceptible to problems that they would not when the water quality was a bit higher. The other thing I would caution you on is some LFS staff will tell you that .25 is an okay reading - IMO you should not believe them. .25 is probably not going to outright kill fish but it stresses then a lot
