Reputation points?
Sorry, I looked through the FAQ and could not find info on reputation points. What are they, and what function do they serve?

AHH I get it now its a system where if you agree or think the person has given excellent advice you can tell them through reputation points. Wonder what it does the more points you get? It is aso for disagreeing as well.

So, i see what you mean, but how do you know if you are getting good points or bad points? When I click on the scales in my posts, it just says that I have 10 reputation points. Is this what everyone starts out at or does this mean that someone has 'rated' me?
Maybe this would be a good topic to have in the 'off topic' group so that one of our super smart super moderators or administrators can explain this to us. I have been to quite a few forums and this is the first time I have seen this. I am worried now that I am going to make someone mad and be sent down the undistinguished road!!!! :-)

LOL Tommy you will always be on the distinguished road, you give alot of great input and advice. I love reading your posts because they are so newsy. I feel like I am part of your family watching the tank grow and change and grow and change and grow and change and ..welll... you get the idea The thing is the more you change things up and try new things the more I learn and that's what makes this forum work!!! The only thing is I must ask some tough questions cuz I don't get much responses or answers like you do

Hey guys,
I don't know much about the reputation points at the moment except how to give them. Which has already been covered in previous posts in this thread. If you agree or disagree strongly with someone's post, you like how nice they are, impressed with their knowledge, anything at all then click on the scales button in their avatar area (not sure what to refer to this as... ) and select "I approve" or "I Disapprove" and fill in the comments to indicate what you are commenting about.
I am not sure what this will accomplish, but the more we all use it the more we will learn about it.
It is a new addition to the site and as such there is not a FAQ for it at the moment. We will be working to get all of this information put together in the future but it might take some time until we get to it.
HTH,
Aaron

So, wondering if there is any new info about this reputation point thing. I notice when I look at my user CP at my reputation points, some of the little Icons are green and some are purple. Are the green ones good and the purple ones bad? I was curious because I would like to know if what I said was good or bad advice or input. That way I can know better when to keep quiet or go on one of my really nice long rants or not!
Thanks
