Re: Tips on anemone care
I have a pink tip.. my husbands buy... Which my clowns will not host in because it is a congi type...found that out after....Mr. impuls buyer.... but i feed it maybe once a month...my Nitrates are what some would say are too high for anything to live in and my MH is on the fritz.. its been in the tank for about 2 or 3 months now, It goes HUGE during the day and then schrivles up at night... Some mornings I come out and it is completly inside itself ... But its STILL ALIVE

Re: Tips on anemone care
my fester (BTA) moved last night, he moved into the very back under some rocks where he gets no light, He hasnt moved since sunday. Maybe the thunder storm scared him last night so im hoping around noon when the lights come on he decides to come out, because i loved the spot he was in. ill have to try and figure out why he is moving, im hoping its because he is still gettig aclimated (it hasnt even been a week yet)

mine went behind the rocks and it seems it was a way for him to climb them cause now he is up on the rocks that he was behind.

Re: Tips on anemone care
Mine's all small looking right now with green tentacles. I am glad it sounds like this is normal. My clown has hosted with it, I've never seen him feed it. Is this something that would be obvious?

Re: Tips on anemone care
I've seen my clowns grab a bite of food and go hide it in their flowerpot. (they treat the flowerpot like it's an anemone) I think that's how they feed an anemone.
I target feed my condy with a squirt of mysis about once a week, that's what I read it would need. when she gets hungry, she looks wimpy and she will come out to the front of the tank. My husband says she travels all around during the day, but she is usually hiding at the back of the tank by the time I get home from work. She's a condy so clowns won't usually host in her, so far that seems to be true for my tank. they are hosting the flower pot like crazy though. so far, the flower pot seems none the worse for wear......

Re: Tips on anemone care
my fester (BTA) has been hiding most of today, given its only been 1 week since hes been added to the tank, make still getting used to his surroundings just chekced the water no2/3=0 ammon=0 and pH is 8.2 (need to get some buffer, its around 8.0 in the mornings.) and sg is 1.024 temp is 82.3
he is sucked in with his mouth open, should I feed it? I have read open mouths means im hungry and a sign of stress.... I wonder if maybe one of my fish are messing with him? its right next to my damsels house, he can be territorial, and my shrimp handgs out on the back side of the rock he is planted on.
what do you all think? I fed it a few days ago brine shrimp/mysis mix
After watching him for some time, he seems to puff up his body every minute or two for about 10-20 seconds with his mouth open, then closes deflates his body again.

Re: Tips on anemone care
you might try sticking a freeze dried krill to it and see if it is hungry. My LTA goes nuts over those things. Since it has only been a week I would give it some time. I was constantly freakin out about mine the first week. My shrimp and anemone are like best buds.

Re: Tips on anemone care
I think im gonna pull some shrimp out of the freezer (for mothers day of course) and feed him a piece of some shrimp, maybe he is hungry and needs something of substance. i am still in doubt the store i got him from fed him, he was located in the back of the tank. so im sure they didnt take the time to direct feed him.
so i thawed out some shrimp, gave steven my shrimp a piece, and my fester (bta) the rest, and fester is VERY sticky, it stuck to him instantly, and all of 2 seconds he had the thing at his mouth. so i think he was VERY hungry.
