Sick Fish

[Edwin's_Owner needs help]

Edwin my Cambodian Crowntail has been sick since late November of last year. Edin is a beautiful red, pink and blue color. I am not sure how old he is. I have tried all kinds of fish medicine but to no hope has he gotten better. Sometimes I find him on his side thinking he is dead, then I tap the tank and he starts moving around again. Around his gills and i want to say under his mouth is going gray. I have felt the urge to flush him and put him out of his misery, but Edwin seems to want to live. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help him? Thanks to any replies. Rachel

This is a picture of Edwin today after I cleaned his tank. I don't know if you can see close enough to see the gray part around gills and underneath the mouth.

There are others more knowledgable on diseases here that i hope will respond. You said you tried many remedy and meds , were any of them fungal cures? Off the top of my head, please understand this is only a guess, i would say the discoloration looks like it could possiably be fungal. I hope some of those more experienced with diseases can chime in. they will likely want more info also such as your water parems (ph, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, hardness)also how often and how much water changes you do and if any other fish you keep have had anything similar in the past . Try to get these things together to make the diagnoses easier to pin down. Also maybe describe if the grey areas grow or shrink or change in anyway, if it appears like a wound etc...
