Betta fish, finrot? or injury?

Hi guys,

I recently bought a bettafish from the local fish shop yesterday and just noticed now hat the fins look kinda torn towards the ends.

Does this look like fin rot to you guys? Or does it look more like an injury? If it indeed is finrot, should I be worried or will it eventually go away? (My tank has cycled and I keep up on the water changes pretty frequently). Any opinions and suggestions is much appreciated.

Looks like a normal betta to me Most bettas fins are a little straggly I find and not perfectly formed. Fin rot looks like what it is -- rotting fins. Fins will usually blacken and lose color and seem to be almost dissolving. He looks the very best to me

I agree...he actually looks quite beautiful. I was worried about my beta when I first got him too. You learn pretty quick what is normal. Sometimes if you can't tell you can put a mirror in front of them to get them to flare, this spreads out the fins so you can see if there are any ripped spots, but they do tend to look a little scraggly. You will know if it is fin rot because as carriej said it looks like the fins are disolving rapidly...always treat with an antibitoic when that happens. But this fish looks awesome!
