Disaster Avoided...(barley)
So get up x-mas morning...about 3am from the noise of what sounds like a freight train....... The wind is blowing very hard, so hard lost some tiles off my roof, another neighbor lost amost all of his roof, the neighbors next door, chiminy blew over onto there house. My outdoor furniture in the pool, part of someone's shed is in my yard. Then around 6:20am.....bam.....no electricity.....Run for the fish tank, break the syphon flow......and sit and wait, power should be back on soon.....and sit, and sit and sit....temp dropping in the house and in my tank very quickly. 9am gets here, still no power.....the power didn't come on till this morning at 9am....Stayed the night at my mom's house, with my dogs......Kept coming back with a flashlight checking on the fish tank.....I just knew I was going to lose everything in my tank.....my airstone I had, ran for a little bit, till it went dead.....no place open to get another one yesterday....I had no way to keep what little bit of heat that was in the tank, in the tank, and no way to raise the temp.....I was sick over the entire thing....Last check last night was about 10pm, and the temp was down in the house to 46 and in the tank to 69......Flashlight inspection fish where still alive, not swimming at all....but alive non the less.....Anenomes.....well......one was wilted looking.....one was hanging under a rock .....and the bta.....well....the bta is now 2 bta's......
This mornning......All the fish survived......tank is back to normal....temp still a little low, but slowley getting the temp back up to a good range.....Sorry for the long-winded story, but yesterday and this am.....was a lot of worrying about the tank.....
I have a couple questions....First off, is there anything incase of emergancy to use to heat a tank if you have zero power? I wrapped some blakents around it....to try and keep any heat in.....
2nd question....my bta....its now 2 bta's.....the biggest part is looking close to normal now....the smaller part.....well it looks like a wilted piece of lettuce almost....I don't think it is dead....it is slowley looking a little better......Is there anything I can do, or should do for my now 2 bta's?
3rd question.....One of my tube anenomes, is hanging under a rock....Tenecals are now open.....but not enough room for it to really open since it is hanging in the sand.....Should I try to move it? I'm afraid to really do much.....everything has been so stressed out I'm sure....
The other anenome is looking perfect now....Same location it has been since putting it into the tank......open now, and doing well......
Zoa's, well part looks ok, the other part, so far not opening....Time will tell on that I'm sure.
I'm so thankful that I didn't lose any fish....I was sick about the situation when I realized it was going to be out all night...Nothing I could do or buy, to help the situation....Not one pet store open yesterday of course......Couldn't have happened on a worse day.....
