First off I don't have a skimmer

But, I have been reading about them for about a week now... I'm really taking it slow. I've heard a lot of bad things about the prizm skimmer(it's loud and breaks a lot). The coralife overflows on your floor and don't really skim all that great. If you want google "prizm skimmer problems" and you will see what I'm talking about. I've narrowed it down to two skimmers to make it easy for you. The CPR bak-pak 2 and the AquaC Remora with the maxijet 1200 pump (not the rio). The bak-pak sounds like a really nice skimmer(about $130). The only bad reviews I have read are that it may spill over on your floor if you don't set it up right. It can get a little loud after a year or so, and it puts bubbles back into your tank (this is bad for a reef tank). The AquaC Remora I have heard very little bad things about it besides the price.($163) Everyone who has one loves it and writes great reviews about it... the nice thing is that it won't spill over on your floor. As you can tell I'm going to buy the Remora for my tank, my search is over. I would suggest you read some reviews on the ones you have it narrowed down to. I've heard it's better to spend the extra $50 on a skimmer cuz if you don't then you will spend that on fixing your crappy one. Hope this helps... and remember, I don't even have a skimmer yet!!
