In regard to bulbs, take a good look at the ATI Blue plus bulbs. They aren't actinic bulbs, but they are very blue and they put out almost as much PAR as a 10K daylight bulb. I've got two over my 90 (they are the only non-daylight bulbs I've got at the moment) and love em!

Thanks Rychek. I was thinking of going ATI across the board actually; 2 pure actinics, pro color(red), blue plus, 2 10ks.

On a side note I bought a new skimmer today! I got the new Reef Octopus NW-150, its rated up to 180g. It was $189.99 shipped to my door! Its got a 6'' diameter body, a 530gph NW pump, 23'' tall, and a small footprint of 10''x9'', which I needed with my small sump. I also ordered some mesh so I can do a mesh mod on the needlewheel.

Should be a nice upgrade from my smaller Euro-Reef ES5-3.

I'm running 3/4 ATI right now. I've got 2 Blue Plus and an Aquablue along with a UVL Aquasun 10K. Next time I change bulbs, I'm skipping the Aquablue and gonig for some sort of true actinic light. My colors don't pop like I'd like them to do.

Nice skimmer. I've been running the same one for several months now and like it much better than my old CSS 65. It does have one little idosycracy though: the pump won't start unless I blow into the venturi line. It just rattles and struggles to engage the impeller (sounds terrible too) but once it gets going, it's great. However, that is a short coming of the pump, not the skimmer its self.

I never knew how the skimmer would work with second chamber above the funnel. Well it works great! It fills up with water, and it makes the skimmate go right up the collection cup.... I can't wait until this baby starts skimming!

I have bought some material to perform a meshmod if I feel it doesn't skim enough stock.







Another thing I really like is the Octo 2000 pump. Super quiet, I can't even tell its running. My old ER had a Sedra3500 pump on it that was quite loud.....

So far I am really impressed with the build quality and design. And for $189 brand new, you can't beat it. I just have to wait and see how it performs.....

Well it has been up and running since Thursday and I am finally starting to develop some foam! It is thick as can be! ALRIGHT! Seems promising, I can't wait unti it is running at full steam....

I don't think you'll be disappointed with your new skimmer. The price/performance ratio is pretty good on this one (it has been for me at least).
