White power stuff

I read the thread that Prgwbtd post about the white moldie stuff growing in his or her tank, and what was done to get rid of it. I do have one driftwood in my tank that was cleaned for 6 to 7 days before I put it in the tank. Any this stuff is only growing at one end of the tank ( at bottom of heater rubber / and suction cups) but I think I'll try what Prgwbtd did. I have included some pix's just in case someone else my have some ideas.

I'm a new guy here with a new tank.

I have drift wood in mine as well. The folks at my LFS told me that the mold on the drift wood is perfectly normal and will go away when the wood is "seasoned" from being under water.

Does your mold only show up on the white part of the wood, as mine does, or is it all over?

Is it fuzzy looking or just white looking and slimey?

I just bought two great big pieces driftwood (grape vine) and they have the white slimey stuff on it too, i took it out and put it by itself in the same water as was in tank, could i have left it in and did something to make that process stop . I moved it because i did not want it all over my tank. Does it do anything to the fish?

The white stuff is only on my heater and suction cups and in my filter hoses, i've haven't seen anything on my driftwood, but i did take it out so that it can be super clean when it's entered back into my tank. And this past weekend i cleaned all that white power stuff off of everything, and i'll wait a few weeks before putting that driftwood back in.
