I don't think this can be can, and if so it would have to be over an extremely long time. I mean I think that's kinda close to evolution. There may some species that can handle both fresh and salt, but I can't think of any that are common to the aquarium.

Mollys can be converted, also there is a shark that can be converted. Monos start off fresh, but need to be converted to salt before mature. Most freshwater cannot be converted. You will have to research to find the species that can be converted.

I would add that most fish will live to thier optimum life when kept in the type water they expect. So the fact that you can push a freshwater fish into a salt environment (or the opposite potentially) does not say the fish will do well over the long run

Like Gary ive done Mollys that way and they seem to thrive, Ive also done several Brackish fish to saltwater. Why are you asking anything special in mind?

Yea i really dont see it happening either unless your some freakin Brainiac Geneologist/ Biologist mad scientist type, in which case its possible. But i dont think it would be worth the pain or stress you would cause the fish.

this is not evolution its adaptability. I wont go it to the whole argument about the fact that every thing you have learned since the 50s and 60s on evolution is false and fake. but to get a fish to ADAPT to salt or fresh is not evolution.
the good lord made freshwater fish and saltwater fish and he even made fish that fit in between for the fishes sake leave it that way. not trying to beat anyone up please don't take it that way I just don't think its our place to try and ADAPT fish to this type of stress. we are already taking them out of their natural environment for our own pleasures
