?'s about home ro/di units, I need to get one
I am at the point where I would really love to have a home ro / di unit. although there a few factors I need to keep in mind. It is an apartment so I can't just go hook up to the hose and I can't necessarily alter the plumbing. I could tap into the tap water though. my next issue is water pressure and mine is pretty darn good for an apartment or house for that matter, but I do not have any experience with how much is good to push the ro / di units that are on the market. I know Coralife sells a nice little 3 or 4 stage unit that includes a pump for such needs, but again dont know if I necessarily need that.
I just need to hear from some people about what they think and how they use their home ro / di units under similiar circumstances. Or even just something like which unit they have and how well they work. If they have universal attachements for kitchen sink tap......
I am pretty new to the whole home filtration thing and could use some guidance and recommendations...............Thanx, Neal in Grover Beach, CA

You will not need a pump if you live in an apartment. That is mainly for wells that dont have the same pressure as city water. A four stage filter will be fine, alhtough i would try to find one with a tds meter, and a flush adapter. The flush adapter is not necissary, but in my experience it has helped my filters last a little longer. They make adapters that fit right onto your faucet. then this way you put the waste water tube into the drain. The r/o unit will have all instructions included, but can be a little confusing at first. If you have any questions just post them we will be able to help you with setting it up.

I am in a similar situation as you and am about to order a portable unit off ebay for about $50 shipped. It is a small unit that you just hook-up to your faucet when you want to fill the tank & it says up to 100gph.

thanx GM, i was also wondering , about how many gallons of tap water will make ro/di water? and do these units have some sort of control mechanism to make less at a slower rate, what if I only needed an average of 10 gals a day?

I also live in apartment, and run a RO/DI unit from kent with flush unit. I modifed my plumbing under my kitchen sink, by tapping into my cold water line. I teed off the line after the valve, then added a valve with a peice of pipe to hook to the unit. About $25 and about half an hour to do.
