Protein skimmer overflowing
Can anyone tell me why my protein skimmer is overflowing? I have tried changing the water level in the basket, extended the tube, shortened the tube. Took all apart and cleaned it. ????????

You can try putting a valve on the end of the air inlet hose, restricting it until it is fully broken in, that should help.

I tried that too. If I restrict the airflow it makes even more water come into the overflow cup. My son says he thinks it is my water. It tests fine and is crystal clear, we have well water but I run it through a filter before putting it in my aquarium. He had the protein skimmer before me and he said it worked good for him. It did work for awhile, then I unplugged it to rinse it out cause the green stuff was getting really nasty and when I plugged it back in it started overflowing. I'm about ready to give up. Any other help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I cleaned it cause it was overflowing and one of the troubleshooting sites I was on told me to take it apart and clean it. I'm new and this and I am about ready to give up. Right now I don't even have one plugged in. I have two of them and they both overflow quickly into the overflow cup. HELP ME
Thanks

Not sure what kind it is. My son bought it a long time ago and he doesn't know what kind it is. It is a hang on the back of the tank type.

I've tried that too. Mine has a little basket that the foam piece fits in and also has white cotten material under the foam. I have replaced both. Keep giving me suggestions. I don't even have it hooked up now cause I can't get it to work.
