Oh No
I just lost my blue Gourami to a long hard battle with Ick it must have happened while I was in school because my Turtle ate half of him. Does anyone know if this is bad for the Turtle?

I would think it couldn't be that bad since they eat other fish in the wild, but I'm not 100% on that.

Some one can correct me if I am wrong, but I am 99% sure that some people feed goldfish to their turtles so I would not think a gourami would be a huge problem over the long term. This may be a good lesson though and I would be hessitant to mix fish in with your turtle now that he has had a taste of them. That is, unless they are feeder type fish intended for the turtle. Gouramis may prove to be a bit expensive for lunch time.

The turtle tank in my BIO class has like 50 minnows wild caught in it that they eat. No problem with them eating fish but as said above its a bit more expensive to pay for the fish. Also a diet of fish alone probably wont work out in the long run.

I'm 100% sure my PetSmart does this. It was quite entertaining to watch the turtles hunt down the goldfish. The smaller turtles would steel the fish from the bigger ones right from their mouth.

Oh I know that eating the fish was not bad, I've feed them feeder goldfish. Its kind of entertaing watching them hunt down the fish. I guess my real concern was that the fish he ate had Ick. I was wondering if that was harmful to turtles. Sorry I didn't clarify.

I would think it is not a big problem internally. I am not 100% sure though and so I would keep an eye on the turtle and try to avoid this in the future obviously.

Only problem I see is if you treated the ick with medication you might have poisoned your turtle. It depends on the treatment that you did. You need to do 100% water change 2 times a week. I don`t keep gravel in my turtle tank due to the large waste loads. Tank and filters cleaned out once a week would be a good idea also.
