filter media levels

I have a rena filstar xp3 filter for my aquarium. it has 3 baskets and a divider for each basket. What types of media should i have in each basket? also what order should they be in? I have the media it came with in it right now which seems to work ok but was wondering about other ideas is all.

My Cascades have 3 and 5 baskets/trays that stack. I have polyfill (Walmart quilt batting) in hte middle one or two, a very coarse sponge type in the bottom, and polyfill with a carbon sock in the top one. Recently I added some pellets that aid in Nitrate control.
I think the Rena's and Cascades are very similar in their basic design and these combos of media have worked very well for me.

so you dont use any of the ceramic pieces or the bio chem star type stuff. just a carbon bag?

Nope. I have carbon and denitrate with the poly and coarse foam.
