ammonia alternative?

hey guys i have a new tank and wanna fishless cycle it. could i go tinkle in it once a day to get the same effect as adding ammonia? because i cant seem to find pure ammonia.

Lol...in a word yes . Keep in mind that urine from the tap is sterile, so only after it starts to break down will ammonia be released. Bits of raw shrimp, scallops, fish etc. will give you the same result.

You are not looking for "pure" ammonia. You are really looking for a diluted variety called "household ammonia", mostly water and a little ammonia.

Because is has an repulsive smell a lot of suppliers put a perfume in to mask the odor. Because it is used as a cleaning solution suppliers often put a detergent in it. Both of these need to be avoided. I usually find it in the grocery store with the cleaning products especially glass cleaners.
