fish tank damage
We have a "chipped" piece of glass in the top corner of our 150 gallon fish tank. The "chipped" glass is not a crack all the way through the glass. What should we do?

Re: fish tank damage
Is it leaking? Is it on the inside/outside? Are you worried about it developing into a leak?

Re: fish tank damage
We are filling it with water now. No leaks so far. The chip is on the outside corner. By the way thank you for your speedy response. And yes I am afraid it will create a crack or worse yet bust wide open.

Re: fish tank damage
How far from the top and does it appear to have damaged the seal? Might could use some silicone to fill the chip...

Re: fish tank damage
It is in the very top corner. Is there a certain type of silicone? Do you feel it is safe? Will it begin to leak before it busts completely open?

Re: fish tank damage
They make a silicone for aquariums. Where are you filling this tank? I would suggest a trial run someplace where you can leave it full awhile just to be sure. Is it cracked or chipped all the way through to the original seal? If not then it probably will be ok. Do you have any pic's. I would be mortified if I told you it would be fine and then something happened. Without seeing it there's no way I could say for sure...it just depends. That is why I would give it a test run, fill it, leave it. If it has no leaks I would drain, seal it as best you can and then refill and cycle. Worst case scenario it leaks while it is cycling but no fish would be lost. Best case, no leaks and after cycling you can begin adding some fine fishy friends!

Re: fish tank damage
I would be glad to send you a picture, but honestly I don't know how. If you can explain the best way to post a picture I would appreciate it. (you have helped so much already). By the way we are filling it outside on our deck. Do I have to keep logging off in order to receive your message?

Re: fish tank damage
I have no idea about "logging off"...I stay logged in and receive emails and messages. As far as pics..no problem. Several things you can do if you have a digital camera. I use Photo Bucket and upload my pics directly from my computer. Then I click on the direct link, rt click to copy. Then I come back to the site (I have two browsers open at once for this) here and on my thread I click on the icon above that looks kinda like a mountain letter with a stamp?? click on it and then hit "control and the letter V" and voila..yourpic will appear.

Re: fish tank damage
You make it sound so easy, but for a computer "dumb dumb" like me... DUH! I'll get the picture to you some way. I'll get my son to figure it out. It may be tomorrow before I can get it to you. I have already taken the pictures, and they look much worse on the picture than it is. thank you
