Hello Jim and welcome to FTF. Ah yes..the possibilities are endless. There is a front page article that compares some of the various types and brands of filters. Might be a good place to start. Also, what size aquarium are we talking about and what types of fish are you planning to stock with? These two items can easily dictate what would be best. Some fish are real messy, others are not. Some of the cheaper filters may work just fine for small tanks without much in them, on the other hand a 30 gallon that is overstocked with really messy fish is going to need a lot more filtration..whew..so get back to us with some specifics/details and please read the filter article and then we can go from there.
