How long has this tank been running, how long after set up did you add fish, what are the water parameters, filter?? On our Front Page there is also a great article about cycling too.
I moved this post for you because it needed to be in the freshwater section.
Please view our suggestions and get back to us so we can help.

When I first started I just had Gravel and a Bubbler
I put a bunch of Fish in
I did not have a heater
I think it was to cold, because 3 fish died instantly when I put them in
Those little shark things, the ones with wiskers were ok
They had the ones without wiskers (Male/female)
The ones without died right away
Then I went and got a heater
Every morning after that, two or three would die
I had about 15 fish to start with
At Walmart they had two types of Fish. the Goldfish section
And the Tropical Fish Section
So, I choose out of the Tropical Fish section
I do have 1 plant
P.S.
I have had water in the Tank about a week and a 1/2 or two weeks
