Re: assassin snails
Pretty sure most loaches will eat up snails as well. You could also try throwing in some squash or cucumber tied to a rock. Turn the lights off and leave it in there for 20 minutes or so. It should be covered with snails before you know it. Grab it, throw it away, and repeat. This method is really tidious, but it can be an effective way to at least try to control the population of snails.

Re: assassin snails
i'm not interested in any fish for the snails, i need a snail for the snails. My botia wont eat the MTS. Its a 75 gal tank so doing the whole veggie-on-a-string trick i think is nothing more than a waste of time for any full-blown snail infestation.
Nobody has any assassin snails? or knows how to get any?

Re: assassin snails
Sorry if this is not correct,I'm new to this, at least your snails are going..I don't know why my snails don't go. My 70 litre tank is a bit overrun with oval snails and I think ramshorn (round spiral ones). I think they came in with the plants. I bought 3 assassin snails hoping this would help the problem but I seem to have much more than before. They don't seem to be eating many. I have only seen a couple of oval empty shells in over a week. I have watched them just go in between and sometimes nearly over the spiral ones and just ignore them. So I bought 6 more assassins and still the snail population does not seem to be going down, I am squashing between 10 and 20 a day. All the fish seem happy and the water perameters are correct. Can anyone help.

Re: assassin snails
I had YoYo's in my tank and they did the trick, and quickly. Ended up being really neat fish too!
