Ich has a 2-4 week life cycle. I would treat it to the letter according to the instructions - ich is hard to kill so if you don't do it right, you won't kill all of them and they'll come back with a vengence, but fish are also easy to kill, so overdoing it a little could very quickly kill your critter.
What exactly are you using to treat the ich, copper? Make sure you are testing for whatever your using to treat so you don't overdo it...
Be careful using additives like Red Slimer Remover - anything that kills red slime is an anti-biotic (since red slime is a bacteria)... and can kill or seriously harm all of the beneficial bacteria in your filtration as well. Vacuuming up and manually removing as much red slime as possible, while substantially cutting back your feeding (along with stirring up 1/3rd of your substrate daily) and heavy water changes are the best way to kick it without risking completely restarting your tank cycle.
