Hello guys!

At the moment i do not have a tank, but i've gotten so into this i can't wait. haha.

i've done some research and read a lot of these threads and seems theres no way to get around cycling your tank which was the biggest turnoff, but i can get dedicated enough to wait for that bacteria to build up.

I plan on cleaning up my room tomorrow and on thursday going to buy my tank, filter, heater, gravel, plants (real!), and my test kit.

I plan on getting a 20 gallon tank, any idea on how long it takes to cycle a 20g?

after i cycle i want to put in gradually, but not all at once...

two cichlids
two loaches or one pleco
and 3-6 schooling fish.

I got this set up from a website that suggested communities that work well together and this seemed like it could be a cool set up.

If this is the case anyone have a good idea on what kinds of fish exactly to get to work together?

It will probably take 3-4 weeks to get the tank cycled...lots of time to talk fish.

Hello PYI, we are very glad you have decided to get into this great hobby and have come here to join in on the fun and fish talk. We are here to help with whatever we can. The fishless cycling may take just a bit longer but well worth the wait. You will have a stable healthy environ for your watery friends. Be careful though...one tank leads to another..another...ooops, next thing you know you are just as wonderfully "hooked" as the rest of us. So jump on in and get to meet some of the folks who swim by regularly, they are all very friendly and full of good advice.

yea i've watched all the cycle videos, the beginner video,and aqaurium set up video, i've read the fishless cycle thread, and just waiting to go buy my stuff. until then i'd love to talk fish ^_^ heh, and the thing aobut more tanks, is i literally don't have another place to put them as i am in college and still living with the 'rents,and thers really only room for one in my room, but i might get the craving to find more room haha.
