And now for something

Ok, I'll say...12 across is filter.
Honestly, you stumped me on a few of these, for 8 I was thinking somewhere along the lines of "happy", but that didn't quite satisfy this 13 letter word.
And I am just dying to know what 9 is.
And for 6, aren't all procedures necessary?!?!?

Ahh, the joys of crosswords. Who would have thought that an eleven letter word for measures temperature could turn out to be temperature? Actually, the word the puzzle was looking for was "thermometer", but It takes a shrewd mind to find another eleven letter word that fits, so Judge gets a gold star, anyway.
as for 8 accross, we can't always know our fish are happy, but with the correct answer, they certainly will be.
You'll kick yourself when you find out number 9.

#9 accross was looking for the three letter word "kit."
However, after an exhausting search thru the Crossword Rule Book it has been discovered that "Brain Malfunction" is indeed a legitimate excuse, since both are legal three letter words. (I am sure that the word dip has a joke somewhere, but we won't go there!)
Will throw in a freebee with #8 accross being "compatibility."
