'Grass' kind of plants...
I'm looking for tropical plants that looks like grass or that cover the bottom of the tank and spread out. Do you have any in mind? Here's an example..

Re: 'Grass' kind of plants...
yes, that would help!
But if anyone knows/own a plant that looks like grass, please tell me what it is. I feel like there's something missing in my tank right now!

Re: 'Grass' kind of plants...
I have some dwarf baby tears (i think) and they don't look like grass but they look...well...kinda cute actually. (did I really just call a plant cute?)
And another grasslike plant, I'm not sure if it carpets (jay would know) but it looks just like grass. It might be a little too tall for some smaller tanks but it's worth a try.-Dwarf hairgrass.
oh, and jay, could I get those web addresses too?
HTH,
Greg

Re: 'Grass' kind of plants...
You could try micro swords, dwarf hairgrass, or dwarf sags. I think the last of the three is the easiest. The other bottom ones are often glossostigma or dwarf baby tears HC. These are harder to grow and more demanding.

Re: 'Grass' kind of plants...
woa! thanks a lot. Too bad I'm having a hard time finding them at my LFS
I guess it could be a good idea to suscribe to a local fish club..

Re: 'Grass' kind of plants...
At the LFS it is usually just the same few plants, but as jay said there are a number of reputable online plant resources. This is a good time of year to order.....not to hot, not too cold......

Re: 'Grass' kind of plants...
Just a IMO...keep in mind that most of the "carpet" grass like plants are HIGH light plants and require a rich substrate with regular nutrient dosing.

Re: 'Grass' kind of plants...
Yeah I agree, and I did mention that many of them were more demanding. However dwarf sags seem to grow great in medium light and seem to be able to get the nutrients better than most other carpet plants. Here they are in my tank vs glosso which I have a hard time trying to grow:

Re: 'Grass' kind of plants...
i use val which is a taller background, grasslike plant. I have tons of this stuff! it spreads through runners and once established will quickly fill in any spaces in your tank! itsa great plant, it reproduces so readily infact that i now sell it to my LFS regularly, as they need it just as bad with it being a popular seller
