Ich and HITH!!!
2 of my pictus died from ich, i was able to start treating them before they started dying but i guess those 2 were too far gone... anyway those 2 died friday. the remaining 2 look a little iffy also they have some red places. wonder if that is just the ich or something else too? the cichlids are fine except for the jack dempsy who has hole in the head i belive. he has a red spot close to his mouth, almost like a pimple so i am guessing it's hole in the head. how serious is hole in the head and am i likely to be able to find a treatment in a store? also i raised my tank temp. to 83degress fareignheit friday that is supposed to kill parasites right? well anyway what should i do now? should i keep treating for ich?

Re: Ich and HITH!!!
How, specifically, are you treating for Ich?
The red spots could be secondary bacterial infection. A pic would help greatly
Does not sound like hole in the head, which is usually terminal.

Re: Ich and HITH!!!
Regretfully, i can't get any pics up since i lost my memory card and my brother lost his camera.
The product i used is called quick cure.
The active ingredients are formalin and malachite green.
I think there is also some methelyne blue since it warned that it can stain rocks, decor etc. also it turns the water blueish. i have taken it easy on the medication(i know the ingredients are toxic) and i belive the ich is almost completely cleared up. From a quick inspection they seem to be spot free. The JD may have had a swollen nostril. Since the bump is gone and the nostril is where the bump was. but still how long should i keep adding medication and when will my tank be free of ich completely so i can add 2 more pictus to keep my remaining 2 company?

Unfortunately I have no idea I do not use those meds for ich. They are extremely toxic not only to fish and critters but YOU as well.

Does that mean you did not follow the label instructions for dose and duration?
Here is the link to our Video Tutorials...There are two for Ich.

I would stop the nukes now, consult the videos, and if you see a recurrence use the heat salt method as prescribed.
