Foxface looks like skullface
I have a foxface that has been in my tank and happy for 4 months now. yesterday i noticed his nose is basically a skeleton. it is red where there is still some skin and its really a raw bone only on the tip. He still eats and acts fine but looks bad. is this a common thing or do you feel he got stuck in my koralia pump or something like that. Also its a reef tank so treating is not an option and i do not have a hospital tank. Any suggestions appreciated.

Re: Foxface looks like skullface
Hey Clinto nice to hear from you..sorry it's under these conditions. It does sound like he got his nose caught somewhere it should not have been. Unfortunately, bacteria will be attracted to an open sore so I would keep a close eye on it to monitor in case it gets worse. You cannot use Formalin on any type of open wound, it could kill your fish but Pimafix or Melafix are both safe for inverts and corals. If it comes to having to treat you will probably want to turn off any filters with charcoal and maybe even your skimmer. I hope this helps and your Foxface is ok. There was another member that had a problem here within the last couple of days with a Foxface. They are without doubt my fav as far as salties go. Good luck and be sure to let us know how he does.

Re: Foxface looks like skullface
Looks like he is making a full recovery. It looked pretty bad for a week or so but after the end of his nose fell off,it has started to regrow and retain its color. Never seen anything like this before but im glad he is coming back.
