All My Fish Wiped Out Velvet

After I added 2 clown fish from the best pet store in the world near my house I lost all of my tank within 3 days. All of the fish would look fine one moment swimming and being active next thing I knew at the bottom rapidly trying to breathe. I self-diagnosed it as Velvet because I could not see any small spots. I guess it doesn't help that I tried to treat a few of them for ICH , but down to my question. Will velvet stay in my tank and infect future fish, or will it effect my 2pepermint shrimp, My Crab, My Coral, Clams, Mexican Turbo Snails, or hermits. Thanks for any help.

Sorry Roger. I think this is in the wrong section. I believe you have a saltwater tank?? I wish I had better news. Your inverts and corals will be fine, Ich/Velvet will not host with them. If you no longer have any fish in your tank then wait at least 40 days before adding any more fish. This should kill off the parasite. It must have a host and without one it will die and will no longer be in your tank. You cannot use many of the typical treatments because they can harm your corals and inverts (such as copper treatments)

I would continue to complete water changes and go about your regular maintenance until the allotted time span has expired and then you should be able to add a fish or two. Do you have a quarantine tank?? Again, I am sorry to hear of your loss. Please let us know if there is anything else we can answer for you.
