bicolor angel....likes like ich, but dont think it is
Okay, my camera is junk and it never seems to get a good picture of the tank so I'm going to be as descriptive as I possibly can...
two weeks ago I picked up a Bicolor Angel from my lfs. As normal, he spent the first night hiding in the live rock so I didn't really get a good look at him. Day 2, I noticed him "flashing" a little bit but not much on the rocks.....his appetite was fine and he was swimming around okay. So, I didn't give it much concern, I just thought he was still getting adjusted to my system. That continued for a couple of days ( the flashing ) but again, his appetite was fine although I noticed he now had confined himself to a hole in the live rock asnd wasn't exploring the tank as much. At this point, I wasn't sure.....my first choice was ich, but either way I was prepaqring for an outbreak of some kind.
Finally, 4 days later...I noticed some spots on the angel. They were white BUT they don't appear to look like "typical" Ich. For starters, they aren't really "on" the fish. they are on the very edges of the tips of the fins. A couple on the top fin and a couple on the back. THEY DO NOT LOOK like the typical Ich. they seem more like white "bulbs" --smooth and round-- verses the usual crud that ich looks like. That, and the fact that they're not "spreading" to the body......it's just on the fin tips. I've also noticed that he is a little sunken in behind the head/gills but I feel that's because he isn't eating properly right now. It's been about a week...
Also, the angel has clouding of his eyes. They are not puffing or red....just seems gunky......I've seem many cases of Ich. Freshwater and Marine and again, I'm still going to say that it does not lok like ich. He still has an appetite and a couple times a day I've noticed he will come out to scavange the live rock. He is still "flashing" and the other symptons persist...He is visibly miserable but I don't think he is dying
just yet.
In this tank, I also have a Sailfin Tang who's been there for over a couple months and he's just fine so I'm convinced that this is something that was brought on from the shipping process from the angel...the tank itselff is doing fine....
I'd really love to get some kind of treatment started right away and any help is greatly appreciatedd in advance!!
