If your sure that you want to keep that many fish in your tank (I would try to sell or give some away ) if not i would run the tank as a overstocked tank. That means you will need to get a filter that is rated for a larger tank than what you have (a 60 gallon filter for a 30 gallon tank etc). YOu will need to do many more water changes than normal with that many fish to keep their wastes in check, you will need to vacume your gravel twice a week and i personally would do a 5 gallon water change every two to three days and a 50 percent water change every 14 days. If not all those fish will pollute their water with poo and ammonia and end up killing themselves off. Test often to see if you need to adjust the water changing up or down. Nitrates are going to be a problem in a crowded tank. That is why people are telling you it might be better to re home some of them... the number of fish you can keep in that tank will depend on what species and the adult size they will reach ... Do you have a picture of your tank so i can see it and the fish ? If you wanted a busy tank with lots of fish i would try to keep only fish that stay tiny and rehome any that get bigger than 2 inches, maybe just keep one that got 3 or 4 inches as a show specimen for the tank, keep the rest tiny ones.

Oh I'm sorry I had no Idea you were a salt expert! My bad!

Sorry I am kinda mad with everyone because I know what i am talking about when i say DO NOT put table salt in your tank EVER! And when I say DO put "Aquarium Salt" into your freshwater tank! Also people keep saying that all my replys are wrong when they should think that not say it!

Why are we back to this pointless argument! I do not think table salt was mentioned until you keep bringing it up. This is basically hijacking the thread and is something that is strongly frowned upon

This is absolutely not correct. I am not sure where you think that idea was created. If someone offers poor advice the other members have every right even a responsibility to point out the problem with it. The readers need to decide who makes the more compelling fact based verifiable case but leaving bad advice unchallenged, such as conducting an experiment that kills all the fish, is not appropriate.

oh my....guppy is a new member, lets not run him/her off.

guppy was trying to help as in "Try it, you'll see", and was not giving advise. I read everyones statements as suggestions, not a law sent from above.

I dont feel guppy was highjacking the thread, maybe a little, but most of us do that from time to time. I have seen threads run for pages, completely off the main subject, and 99% of the time, the thread just fades away.

Now, maybe its just me, I can get testy you didnt know???, but there seems to be a lot of annomosity around here for some reason.

I must admit I did react strongly to the tone of the first post from Guppy which I interpreted as being challenging. The forum is an excellent place to exchange ideas and debate the merits both positive and negative. We need to always do that in a professional manner and I should not respond in kind if I believe that has not occurred.
