Riley's fin rot.

My Betta, Riley, has recently developed fin rot. He lives in a 2.5 gal tank, with which I do 75% water changes weekly,and a 100% change every month. Weekly tests for ammonia always read 0. The temperature of his tank is 78. What should I do? What am I doing wrong?

Your water changes seem a bit extreme(maybe gettting rid of the good bacteria), and Theres meds, for his fins, they probably won't grow back like they were, but they will grow to acceptable size. Try a little bit of salt in tank, A LITTLE. Not table salt either. That should get it.
