| Re: Shock's 55 Gallon completely am the same way, I have so much crap.
anyways went to LFS today, because my pH is to hell. and i dont think my BTA is liking the swing, even though my LFS says its ok.... anyways got some buffer, gonna raise it up just .1 and let it go and see if it makes him happy. BTA doesnt seem to be very happy.
But also traded my cleaner shrimp for a new one, the one i had liked to kill my snails, and kill EVERY peppermint shrimp i put in the tank... so i got a new one and 2 peppermints. still no email about the fuge.... arg!!!!
and now i got to find a phosphate reactor. lol i hate this hobby but love it....
Make that 1 peppermint..... my wrasse decided it was too good looking to not kill and eat it.... I swear my fish LOVE to kill my peppermints!

Now I'm almost "bored" from not getting any new equipment! Seriously! If that makes sense.
Now it's gathering corals.... Its one enourmous viscious cycle, I swear!
Sorry to hear about your greedy wrasse. They love to eat!

| Re: Shock's 55 Gallon Refugium came in today.... broke.
Sure its not terrible, but its still broken... the guy packed it like this.... he put a sheet of bubble wrap (small bubbles) around the whole thing. then he put the pump INSIDE of the refugium with it not being secured. resulting in the pump smacking the baffle breaking it. and ontop of all that, he stuck it in a box that was too big and left it like that. so they whole thing moved during transit. and this was USPS which they dont handle there stuff great anyways...
So now the question is. send it back and take the shipping charges hit, or make it ghetto and fix it....
Damnit Brad! if you havent had sold yours the DAY i was coming back to the states from Germany, and on a plane for 15 hours i could have bought yours!!!! haha!
now what to do, fix the brokwn one, watch the classifieds for months again, or pay 160$ brand new?!?!? what to do,what to do!? |

| Re: Shock's 55 Gallon That nothing a little crazy/super/aquarium safe glue won't fix. It's not like you'll be looking at it very often as it hangs on the back of the tank and is completely out of sight. |

| Re: Shock's 55 Gallon well, im gonna fix it, aint bad, im just gonna get some glue, glue the piece back, cut a piece of plexi glass to sit up next to it for support to help keep sand on the right side.
now question is, what to put in it... snails? hermits? I have snails in the tank, do hermits provide anything that snails dont? if they do im willing to put a few in the fuge, that way they wont kill my snails. or should i just keep with the snails? I got to see if my LFS sells macro algae. Also looking for some rubble rock, but my LFS prob wont have that. Maybe ill buy a cheap piece of rock and take a hammer to it. Then im going to order some copepods off the net and put them in the refugium just to seed the heck out of it
Also looking for cheap light. a light on a 10 gallon works PERFECTLY, but i dont have any spares. Also looking at those small CF lights, they will fit too. gonna put it on a reverse light cycle to try and help with some pH issues.
And lastly, my LFS has some xenia that are like 10$ a stalk. what do they need, iodine right? what do you all use? and how do you get them to attach to rock? |

If one pays for a service or product, it should be quality. However, in a case such as this, you've got to ask yourself if it's worth the effort/cost to get the seller to take action. It really stinks that he packed it so badly. At least it's a low cost fix.
As for the refuge, I run live sand, rock rubble (soon to be at least one full size piece of rock) and macro algae (cheato). I've also got 2 nassarious snails and 1 red-legged hermit in there. My cleanup crew needs to be reinforced in my display before I get too many in my fuge. Any of those lights should work. I was using the light from my 20 gal on mine, but after a bit of shuffling, I'm running a clip on light with a CF bulb.

| Re: Shock's 55 Gallon ya, it wasnt worth it, i was just angry because of such poor packaging on something so fragile. but anyways. i glued it all up. its not pretty, glued the crap out of my finger, lol. But im running some water and vinegar right now. give that a few hours and then run water for a while to clean it out.
hopefully should have it set up soon, i need to see if i can just get a few pounds of liverock from my LFS. I dont want to have to take some out of my tank. so maybe off to LFS tmr or tuesday. I wonder how much sand this thing will take lol prob just grab a bag of 20lbs and extra will go in tank |
