Re: Shock's 55 Gallon

Well had a cookout today, and my uncle with a 125 reef surprised me with some presents. He came with two nice sized pieces of xenias, some green star polyps, and some red mushrooms. Pictures to come tomorrow

Re: Shock's 55 Gallon

Sorry, Im alittle slow, put siding up on the shed out back yesturday, then went to LFS, then had a project to do for school. but here are some pics

There are 4 or five red mushrooms on the rock he gave me.

Two branches with GSPs.

and

Here is the right side of my tank which the zoanthids, shrooms, and xenias are. (Zoas closed up because I was moving them around trying to find them a home.)

and FTS

I still cannot figure out how to take a picture without it being so BLUE!

Ill have to break out the tripod to get more clear pictures.

Re: Shock's 55 Gallon

Very nice pictures and livestock, first off!

I really like how you have aquascaped the tank. Lokks way better than my 55 setup.

What kind of camera do you have? A tripod will help with steading the camera but not with the blue.

Read your manual for the camera, try and find something in your menu that you can adjust for lighting. My camera has an option for flourescent lighting, this takes away the blue hue. Also messing with your ISO speeds help really clear up close up shots.

Hope that helps some.

Re: Shock's 55 Gallon

Here is my AquaFuge set up. Scary part was i never knew how unlevel my tank was.... I leveled it when I put water in, and it was fine, but from it sitting it decided to become unlevel with time (carpet) anyways it was about 1/2 leaning backwards. which was alittle scary, but i leveled it out with some dense foam up against the wall pushing the tank forward.

I put some foam around the refugium to block out light at night when I sleep. I take the light of my FW tank every night and put it on my refugium until I can get a refugium light.

with the fuge my tank has been staying at around 80-81 it used to get up to around 83 or even higher if the AC wasnt on. I also have 2 fans blowing air out of canopy that is assisting in cool down, but the fuge is doing most of the work.

My cousin now wants to start up a tank. I found him a 29 gallon biocube for 200$ with stand and is in great condition. so i tihnk he might get that, he is going to do a small reef, and maybe a fish or 2. Then i get to help him set it up! im excited to do that!

oh also my skimmer broke, one of the baffles came loose, so i called AquaC they said i can either send it in to be fixxed for free, or he will send me a tube of glue to fix it myself for free. I told him i would try to fix it myself because to ship this thing to california would take a week and cost me 20$. so right now im in the process of glueing the baffle back. its hard in such a tight area. but im gonna let it cure today and overnight, and tomorrow give it a vinegar bath then rinse it and dry it out and put the skimmer back on hopefully tomorrow night.

now im getting more into corals the more i get and its filling my tank i want more!!!

Re: Shock's 55 Gallon

I would use an acrylic epoxy, they usually come in smaller tubes, so it might be ok to get in there.

You could also use some silicone. It works OK on acrylic, but better on glass. Should hold.

Which baffle is it that broke?

Re: Shock's 55 Gallon

They do indeed, Im very happy! Oh and thanks for the previous comments, I didnt notice them before you snuck it in between my posts!

Well i was gonna take some new pics, but its that time of the night that my corals go in by themselves even with the lights on. Is this normal? anything I should do? my xenias and GSPs both retract at this time of the night. and my zoas will start in about 30 mins.

Also I was gonna show you guys my fresh tank... but i just noticed my two convicts decided to have babies without my permission. I took out almost all their decor because they are very skittish, and i added it all back last week. and they decided to have babies! damn it! sadly I got rid of the babies a 10 gallon isnt big enough! I feel bad now because they are swimming around their tank looking for all their babies!!

Re: Shock's 55 Gallon

Nice pics Jason! You tank looks very established with all of the coralline everywhere. Hopefully my tank will start coloring more. I've got some green coralline starting on the back, but it's a slow process.
