Re: Shock's 55 Gallon

Well I went to LFS on sunday, looking for my first coral. After spending an hour looking at everything I decided to get another fish lol. A six line wrasse. Its doing fine, althoguh my damsel scared him alittle at first, damsel loves to rub his tail on new fish, i guess to show his dominance, well anyways he ran into some liverock and left alittle mark. But anyways he is a little fatty, ate the first day. and every sunday and today when i fed them he ate himself till he couldnt eat any more. his stomach gets really big while he eats, I guess a fat fish is a happy fish. Mandarin still loves the brine, so im very happy, although she is too slow to catch the food and she likes to stay in the back , so maybe ill try a new approach to feeding her on thursday.

Ill get some pics of the wrasse later... WITH MY NEW LIGHTING THATS COMING TODAY!!!! YEAH!!!!!!

Re: Shock's 55 Gallon

I would have been a bit more cautious with adding in a 6-line wrasse. Mostly on the fact that the wrasse with out compete the madarin for pods and micro fauna. The wrasse moves too fast and the mandarin too slow.

Keep your eye on the mandarin and how fat/slim he gets. You might have to start adding in pods to sustain the mandarin's health....

Just my 2 cents....

he nice tank man....Ilive just a little bit north of you in wake, va. I was wondering which lfs you go to. I have only been into saltwater for a few months and haven't found any good ones. I have been to one in richmond a couple of times(don't remember the name of it but it is on patterson ave.) it is pricey but they have a pretty good selection of corals and fish.

Re: Shock's 55 Gallon

Thanks brad, I wasnt aware of them eating pods. I thought they just ate flatworms and such. Ill keep an eye on him. My mandarin does eat alot of brine shrimp when i feed the rest of the tank, so im hoping she will be ok. Thats what i get for not asking first. If the wrasse starts to cause a problem, Ill try to catch trade him in at the LFS.

ispurlo, Atlantis. They are pricey. pricey to the point that dry goods are better to buy online. Thats one heck of a hike for you to go all the way to atlantis!! Take ou about hour and a half to get there?

Im heading up today cause i was a moron and broke one of my brand new T5 bulbs. I swear I can never have a good exciting day, When something good happens, something bad happens to ruin it!!! Lol

maybe Ill get a ball of zoas today, the LFS has a big ball of assort zoas for 60$ maybe i can talk him down a bit.

Jason

Re: Shock's 55 Gallon

yeah I buy all my dry goods online, I have only gotten livestock from them. One fish and a couple corals. Yeah it is like hour and 15 minutes for me but thats pretty much the only game in town for saltwater, as far as I know. Good luck gettin those lights set up.

Re: Shock's 55 Gallon

Thanks ispurlo.

I bought a zoa rock today. Ill get some pics later once it open up more. The lights are installed but not permenantly. I need to run to electrical supply to pick up 2-6 wire plugs for a quick disconnects. and i need to raise the canopy up a bit, the remora is hitting one of the reflectors and i cant put the canopy all the way on.

Re: Shock's 55 Gallon

I found this kinda funny my snails where having a good time together....

And my new zoas, Sorry some pics are alittle blue, trying to figure out camera. And bulbs still need to break in.

Alright some of those pics kinda suck. but its all i could get right now, camera was dieing on me... But anyways. the pictures do them no justice they are very green!!! I picked these over a oall of multi colors with brown outsides, and i liked the green outsides more, and there are about 6 Red ones mixxed in the bunch. Also 2 pieces fell off in the bag during transport with about 6 zoas on each so i put them on my Live rock on the other side of tank The guy also gave me 2 big snails for free. lol

Lights look great, alittle blue right now, but they just need to break in!

I need to stop turning off skimmer during feeding, because whenever i do Its micro bubble hell when it comes back on.

I also need to go get me another pepermint shrimp. there are 2 aiptasias in my tank. and i dont like them!!! My cleaner is big though he likes to kill any peppermints i put in the tank.

Re: Shock's 55 Gallon

I cant get a pic of the 6line just yet, He is a retard. I guess since he is in a new area he is alittle stressed. He has a few knicks on him from running into liverock poor guy. Why do wrasses run into liverock, Every wrasse ive ever seen likes to rub up against the rock. Oh well hopefully he will calm down and take it easy and stop running into stuff. He had me worried because i walked up and there was a "white spot" looking thing on him, i dont know wat exactly ich looks like, but i looked closely and u could tell it was a battle scar between him and the liverock.
