GG,

So that clam is going to stay up on the live rock like that (or am I seeing it wrong?)? I really love those clams and would like one, but dont think the wife would let me justify the new light set and then a 200 dollar clam I am not sure I could keep alive!

Your tank is amazing though! Keep the pictures coming!

Yep I think the clam is fine, pretty secure. The crocea clams prefer the rock over the substrate, at least that is what I read. Didn't pay $200 for it -- it was $75.

My clam moves around. It actually rotated itself whole 180 degrees and moved 3-4 inches in a period of 48 hours. So I just left it in the sand to do what it likes. If you lift it up they have this small "leg" on the bottom of their shell that they use to move around it.

I finally took the time to make a video of the clam that I have (which is not like the one you guys have, but rather the type of clam that you would eat) moving itself around with its foot. It takes it a long time to start moving after I unbury it, but one it does, it is actually pretty quick at turning around and digging into the sand. My kids had told me that I should draw some eyes on it so that when it sticks out its 'tongue' it would look like it was smiling! Obviously they are easily amused, but I never thought of that so it at least proves that they have a good imagination!
