I also read that u don't have to use Co2 that it just helps the plants grow faster, is this true or do i need to inject.

What is really important is plant health. Plants are 40-60 % carbon by dry weight, which tells us plants need carbon to grow and be healthy.
In a 1.7 gallon tank with fluorite, there are lots of plants that will do well with just adequate light, and fish. The tank being so small, nitrates and phosphates will build quickly from feeding and provide nutrients while enough CO2 will dissolve from the atmosphere.
