Need Help (What type of plants are these?)

What type of plants are these in this tank? I know that the one is dried bamboo that was placed in the tank, but what are the rest? Would those plants do well with medium light (a compact flourescent light buld in a 5 gallon tank)?

Re: Need Help (What type of plants are these?)

hmmgood question the only one I think I would know is it looks like there is a bananna one in the back corner it is hard to tell as it is hiding a bit but the leaves look right and i think I can almost see the tell tale roots(looks like bannanasgreeny brown) behind the others. the one with the little tiny leaves looks like maybe moneywort and the broad leaves look to be a sword of somekind. (I looked um the last 2 on liveaquaria.com which is part of drs foster and smith) I have a bannna plant and it is under some other plants that shade it a bit but it is growing well and is very small the others I don't know but the site has really good info about the needs of the plants it offers so could give you an idea as well as maybe help you figure out which sword (i am looking at tiny pics on tiny screen) good luck

The broad leaved ones in the back could be an anubius species.

Well, I'm pretty new to planted tanks, but to my eye the broad leaved plants in the back look like a mix of Anubias (possibly more than one sp.) and possibly a Crypt wendtii (the leaf next to the hand resting on the knee of the statue looks a bit like a crypt more than an anubias to me). But like I said, i'm new to planted tanks. I don't know what the floating plant is, but I really like the look of it.

Also, in general, VERY cool looking tank!!! I really like it. It's simple and elegant, and the Betta, who is very beautiful by the way, looks like he is very happy in his cool home!

Accurate Plant identification can be difficult depending on the circumstances.

All of the plants shown are immature or are top prune cuttings replanted. A lot of the broad leaf plants are grown in nurseries emerged (out of the water). When put into the tank they drop their emerged leaves and grow the leaves they need to be submerged. The two leaves are often very dissimilar making the emerged plant difficult to identify.

My guess on the stem plants is a type of Bacopa, I am not certain. I do not know what the floating plant is, I could research it but then I am depriving you of the fun.

The stem plants require good light..2+ wpg ballpark. If the background plants are indeed anubius and or crypts, 2 wpg will be plenty of light.
