algea and plants


well i have algea and it is controled as in not to much but i have it on my live plants how do i clean the algea of i cant take the plant out i tryed but it has very long roots help me plz

Gently wipe the leaves between your thumb and index finger. It's the only way..

If that means the algae is not out of control...


You might want to look into introducing Otocinclus Catfish and or some algae eating snails. IME (Neritina reclivata) snails are great for planted tanks.

There are still other options like blackouts, dips etc. You first need to eliminate as many conditions as you can that support the algae growth or it will bounce right back.

You can get them from any quality supplier of fish and inverts. Try Foster and Smith.

Since they will not reproduce in a fw tank I would IMO get 3 it will not cost you any more for shipping.
