The rule of thumb for lighting and successful plant growth is a minimum of 2 watts per gallon.

You have a 65 gallon tank and 20 watts of light.
20/65 = .307 watts per gallon

Java Fern is a tough little plant, needing only low light.
Low Light = just barely 2 watts per gallon

I would say the answer to your question is no, although I have seen javas hang in there for a while on poor light.

Oh...I moved this post because you really should have started a new thread instead of changing the subject (hijacking) anothers thread.

Jay

ok so should i move the java fern because its curently attached itself to my large bogwood that would probably not fit in the well lighted 10 gallon tank.
the reasoni did not buy a 60 gallon light is because it was an outrages!!!!$178!!!! so i just settled for the 20watt light.
