| Coralife Skimmer problems hello, I've been on vacation and my skimmer seems to be not working very well now....I've read about some things that can make it work better. It's a hang on the back, I think unclejed has the same sort....it's doing a bit better after I cleaned it out and made sure the air intake was clear....but I read about a modifications..... and I know that there are folks on here that are gurus at that stuff....well, I am a klutz at that stuff so any help would need to be at elementary school level with pictures! thanks!

| Re: Coralife Skimmer problems Hello Sue, I'm not quite sure what you are asking for here. Describe what you mean "not working very well". I do have have the Super skimmer. Let's figure out what you mean and then talk about "modifications".

| Re: Coralife Skimmer problems One of the number one problems with the Coralife skimmer is running the bubble line two high. Check out this link to my website. Mine is packed full of foam throughout the entire cup. Took me six months to figure it out.
The second is the amount of head the pump needs. If using stock tubes it should be like this.

| Re: Coralife Skimmer problems I have mine set up per the manual (the way las said it wasn't working) and it works fine. It is a little touchy to water level in the sump but Sue is hanging hers.

| Re: Coralife Skimmer problems thanks for the pictures! I think that I did have my bubbles too high, but when they are low, it doesn't look like it is taking anything out of the water....I turned it down and I will check it again tomorrow.....my nitrates are up and my corals are not looking so hot right now...I have been doing daily water changes to get them down and that is working, but they are not yet in the range I still have about 10 on nitrates nitrites are between 0 and .05 Ammonia is between 0 and .25 spgr is 1.022 and alk is 2.6 ph is 8.2 and temp is 82 that is all my kit at home will measure. the flower pot looks a lot better tonight than it did yesterday.
family and work events have had me distracted, I might not have been giving enough hours of light, either.
I seem to have read on another forum about a little part that you could put on there somewhere that would make it work better, but I couldn't really figure out what they were talking about....
and unclejed, you are right, I have my skimmer HOB style...there was some sediment in there when I cleaned it out, but it all went back together ok....
