| 120Gal CLS i am going to be setting up a 120 g reef (4x2x2) and i am going to go with a closed loop system the store owner says he will drill the holes for free if i buy the tank from him. he never specified how many holes he would drill but i will pay for extras its not a problem..............now
it has dual corner overflows so i will have 2 loc lines (4) outlets in the corners how many holes for the closed loop system do you suggest? 6 or so? 2 out and 4 return?? and what size holes? i would like a basic idea when i go back to the lfs also if someone would possibly do a a pic in paint id much appreciate it.

| Re: 120Gal CLS well today i went and told the LFS owner i was ready for a tank and i wanted a 120 g dual overflow and we further discussed the CL he said he would drill 2 2 " holes (1 1/2" BH) for supply to the CL pump and 4 1"BH returns from the pump i paid 500 cash for the tank with the holes drilled and the BHs are $10 each. i told him i was looking at a dart pump and he said he had one in the back he would sell me for $140 cash so i jumped on that as well its refurbished but thats fine by me he said he would take care of it if it died in a abnormal amount of time. he ordered the tank while i was there it will be in the shop monday and ill probably pick it up hopefully next weekend but im going camping so i gotta work around that.
and good news on the lights i bought
coralife 2-150w MH and 4 96W PC they were 3 months old but i got 2 extra brand new bulbs with it!

| Re: 120Gal CLS Hey E46er,
I would agree with your lfs store. Sounds like a nice setup you are going to have. Pump should also work out well too, CL's are nice, they move tons of water around. Let's see some pictures after you get it all!

| Re: 120Gal CLS Since i dont know too much about corals right now my intention was to have enough light and flow for basically anything. which is why i went with a CL with a 3600 gph pump also ill have a little bit of flow from my sump around 1000 gph and the MH lights should be more than enough i figure

| Re: 120Gal CLS You shouldn't have any problems keeping just about any type of coral (as far as equipment is concerned) in that setup. It sounds like you're getting a pretty good deal too. Pics are in order.

| Re: 120Gal CLS Hey,
I agree with Rychek, with those lights you can house anything you want. I would just keep SPS near the middle to top and LPS towards the middle to bottom. Softies could go anywhere with that lighting.
Make sure you use baffles on your returns from your CL so you can get flow to what you like....
Pictures indeed!

| Re: 120Gal CLS yea thanks guys i only paid 450 cash for the lights with the 2 extra bulbs and the same fixure online is around 900 bux.....every time i go there with my buddy and plan on spending no money the LFS guy tells me what he has for me for super cheep and sure enough i buy it lol.
i will use valves so i can regulate flow id already thought of that but i appreciate the comment just the same as its the first reef ive set up and what many reefers might think as common sense i may overlook............
