| Cowrie ?? Hi all. I have been watching this guy since he arrived as a hitchhiker a few weeks ago. He was too small, about the size of pin head, when first noticed. I actually have two of them. One is a little more striking in his markings. Kind of greenish striped that fades on top. Bottom edge is whitish and one has brown dots evenly spaced on the white portion. I have searched and have not found the exact type of snail but appears to be a Cowrie of some sort. As of this a.m. I have discovered that they do burrow down like a Nassarius but clearly the shell is not that of a Nassarius. It is smooth and shiny. They are MUCH larger now so I got a pic. Any thoughts..any and all are greatly appreciated. Thanks Sharon http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/k...2/newLR022.jpg

| Re: Cowrie ?? I don't know, a friend of ours went to Viet Nam and they brought back shells of what they call "cow pie", maybe in the language translation it just came out that way instead of "Cowrie"! |

| Re: Cowrie ?? Ok, essentially we are talking about the same thing just a slight diff in pronouncing?? Makes sense. I am wondering how big they'll get and whether they are reef safe. I have read (to my surprise) that there are some that are not reef safe..hence the questions. Thanks again Uncle Jed..always a pleasure.
