| help ID! possible nudibranch? I came home tonight and turned out my lights as usual on my 100 gal. im currently going through a MAJOR ich problem so ive lost all but three fish, the lights are only on for my frog spawn(i just got lights 2 weeks ago and havent had time to add more coral, along with the ICH problem ive aquired in the last 6 days). Anyways, my frogspawns closed about 10 min after i turned on the moon lights, and i noticed what looks to be a black cucumber or nudibranch underneath where the frog spawn had been fanned out. It is about an inch long, black, and has two black "feelers" with white tips on top of one end of its body... im assuming maybe theyre telescopic eyes or something. i know i havent brought anything home that could have housed this creature, and ive never seen it before, which is weird as now it seems to be hanging around ONLY the front of the tank. Any ideas on what it could be, or how it randomly showed up? I tried to get pictures, but none turned out well enough to post. any ideas?

| Re: help ID! possible nudibranch? There is a site where you can ID your nudi, but it will take awhile to go through the pics to find the right one. Here is the link. http://www.seaslugforum.net/specieslist.cfm |

| Re: help ID! possible nudibranch? Hi pupnsuds211, About the ick, try not putting "pesty" fish in your tank if you want to keep things peaceful. By pesty I mean DAMSELS! They can pester and usually do most other fish. They are highly territorial. Chromis are in the damsel family and can go either way as far as pests.Stress will bring on ick. The thing you describe sounds like a nudibranch or perhaps even a slug. Probably no real threat and was probably living in the live rock for some time. I had incidents of having a tank up literally for years, adding nothing, and one day a beautiful orange sponge crab made his presence known along with other denizens of the deep! I think it is pretty cool really, I didn't have to pay for these freebies! |

| Re: help ID! possible nudibranch? the ich is on the mend, sort of. i have one green chromi, the other 3 greens and the 2 blue yellow tails got killed by my rabbitfish. the one thats left is fine, not a stressful fish at all. it was actually a ruby skat i got that apparently was already in early stages, he had the beginning of a film on his eyes, but it was so light i couldnt tell when i was at the lfs.
anyways, i started looking at that site, jeez theres so many! anyone know of a scientific name i could start looking in that would make it a little easier maybe?
