Still have questions after I read all of the Posts.

I have recently become interested in owning a SW tank. I know it's going to take ALOT of time and money but that's the price I'm willing to pay for the beauty of the hobby. Anywho, my question is how does a SW aquarium usually last? I ask this because I'm in the Army and we (My wife and I) will be moving every 3 years or so. I don't want to start an aquarium if it's only going to die every 3 years. Also, I'm not going to be able to start my aquarium now because I only have a few more months left here in the greater state of Alabama (going through flight school now, almost done) but I REALLY love the beauty of the hobby.

By the way, great forum. I'm a big advocate of doing research and this by far has to be the best source of information I have found.

I do NOT know much about Salt Water, however I understand from all the Post here in the forums that it take SW many months for setup and cycling. I guess that is something you would have to think about with your moving schedules.

Maybe Aaron will see this post and give you some solid advice!

Tropical Tanks do not require the amount of time and money that a SW set-up so maybe you could enjoy a FW Hobby until you have more permanent base/housing. Just a thought. Good luck.

Its an honor to help one of Americas finest. I have two cousins serving in Iraq.

Keeping a smaller tank may be the best choice while serving since it will make it easier on moving. Larger tanks can always come later if necessary.

It is possible to keep the tank alive during moving, but it will take some ingenuity to pull off. Depending on how far you have to go and what method of travel used I have a few ideas that might serve to help.

Just let us know any questions we can help you out with and we'll do or best to shed some light on it for you.

Hey Aaron,

Thanks for the support, it always feels good to get a hardy "Thanks" from anyone. I've been looking at a few Nano reefs, like the "Bio-Cube", or something to that nature, but from what I've been reading it's a whole lot harder to maintain. I'll do more research on this.
