What should i do about the bristle worms in my rock? i think there are about three of them about an inch or so, are they harmfull? i also think i have mycies, tiny clear bug looking things that move very quick. they just started showing up a day or so ago????????

Bristle worms are usually not harmfull to your tank, in fact they help in stirring your sand bed. (they do look pretty scarry sometimes)

The "mycies" may be copopods you should check.

In my opinion and experience the things you need to keep a successfull marine environment are:
1. Water Quality (try not to use too many addatives)
2. Lighting (Lots and lots of good lighting)
3. Live Rock and DSB (If it works in nature, try and replicate it)
4. Water Movement (Move as much water per hour as possible, and make it turbulent)

As Timmy stated bristleworms (fireworm) are great cleaners but do not try to touch them. Their bristles have poison and will irritate your skin.

Look like little bugs. Hard to describe but mainly grayish in color with little antenas. Do a google search for a picture.

As far as the bristleworms go, you may or may not be in trouble. There are 2 types of bristle worms that I am aware of, both are found in Ron Shimek's "Marine Invertebrates" book.

One of them is reef safe and is ok to have in your tank, but the other is a pest that will eat corals and clams and should be removed at all costs if you intend to house corals and clams in the future.

I would suggest you check out his book to compare the pictures with what you have in your tank to see if it is anything you need to worry over.

thanks arron i have seen a couple of them and they are red with white spikes on them
