What do I need for a new 40g acrl hex salt?

First off, I want to thank all of you here for all the great info. I'm returning to salt thing after a 10 year hiatus from the hobby. Even then I wasn't all that great at it but I am looking to give it another shot. So, that being said, here's my question...
I bought a 40 gal Hex tank with intentions of doing a cichlid tank but am now considering a salt tank. I have a fluval 305 and a 3in air disc with pump. What do I need to have a good tank setup? I really want the filtration to be inside the cabinet under the tank and nothing hanging off the tank. All the sugestions I can get would much appreciated! Tank dim. is 18x18x23

hey Divingjoed I use a deep sand base ( 3 to 4 inches of fine sand in bottom of main aquarium ) and good water flow if you don't want anything in the main tank ie: heater ,protein skimmer ,or power heads . You can use a under tank sump (a smaller tank)to place all this equipment ,but you will need an over flow or have the main tank drilled .

You are also going to need 40-70lbs of live rock. This will be your main filtration along with the deep sand bed. You can actually stack the live rock in a way so that it will hide all of the equiptment in the tank. That is another option just incase you don't want to go with the sump idea mentioned above.
