Ok Now that i know a few of you.HELP!Green Hair Algae growing on coraline algae??

Ok i got this hair algae or it looks like hair on only like 5-6 Pieces of my rock it came all of a sudden in past few months now it looks like real soft electro static hair real geen and some is like a dirty brown its so long its been flowing by koralia's i tryed to put a picture of it in here but it says my pic is to big.Now i know algae grows from nitrate and phosphate mixing now my nitrates are at .20ppm and my phosphate is just under .5ppm now what im lost on is that it grew were i have some serious coraline algae is growing on couple of rocks is this suffocating my rock??I would love to kill it off any help would be Bad .

Are you sure your nitrate is .2 and not 20ppm? Not many hobbyist grade test kits for NO3 go below 1.0. Most likely its 20ppm, and that would be a place to start. Try lowering that. Also there are many herbivorous snails, crabs and fish that will help you out in your problem. Telling your photoperiod, water change cycle and so forth will help people help you.

You need to test your source water as well, sometimes THATS the problem. Also cut back on feeding

I will suggest that when you post and are asking for help or for ideas, please include all basic information. Basic information should include; all water parameters(Calcium,Magnesium,Alkalinity,Ph and Nitrate and Phosphate levels) along with Temp. of your tank and Sg (specific gravity).Size of tank and complete set up meaning, filter type (sump, canister etc.), if you use a skimmer,lighting (what type and total output)plus what type of lighting are you using and what is your lighting schedule (how long a period are your actinic and daylights on) and if you have fish only with live rock and if you keep
corals. Also how long the tank has been up. I know some of this is in
your bio but many bios don't contain this info. How many times has someone posted and then there is this list of postings addressing the above. If you give the most info you can to give us a good profile, it will cut down on response time and mis-diagnosis or answers that don't fit and we will all benefit.
Flake foods are culprits for phosphate, if you use flakes, stop for now. Canister filter? Answering all the above will speed things up.
