stocking 10 gallon aquarium

right now i have 1 gold angelfish (about 3.5 inches long) and 3 red eye balloon tetras (about 1 inch long each) in a 10 gallon tropical tank. i was wondering if i could possibly put 3 or 4 neon tetras in my current tank. thanks for any suggestions.

IMO I think that's pushing it a little. Personally I would opt for a bigger tank!

I agree with Judge, as that is pushing the limit. You could always try it and then adjust accordingly. But what do i know, i overstock all my tanks lol

Hi fishlvr13.

I'm glad that you decided to ask advice first, before going out to buy them. That's what this forum is all about.

If I may suggest that you not think so much in inches (as so many folks do), but rather in actual "bioload", that is, the amount of "waste" this number of fish will create.

IMO, it is at best, "risky" since you would, out of necessity, have to perform quite a bit of water changes and often to accomodate the fishes health, not to mention possible "aggression" issues that could occur.

I would suggest an alternative..... a bigger tank, at which point you could expand you screen name to "fishlover."

Hope this helps.

Bob

I reckon it would be alright, neons arn't going to produce a whole lot of waste. I just wouldn't feed the tank any extra because of the neons. What I would be worried about is where to house the angel when he outgrows the tank.
