Is it ick season?

Both lfs stores have ick on their fish!!! Today lfs guy says yes its ick, they just got their fish in, and 3 of the 4 uv sterilizers are not working. No new fish this week

I should have asked if we love pets get their fish from the same dealer as pet smart, but I didnt think of it till now.

I think the Net Positive side to that is...they have a problem and they are doing the responsible thing by telling you that.

I told petsmart, one guy said he thought so, the other said no, its fin rot,
I pointed out the ick to we love pets, but he was very honest that it was, but also said it would be 2 more weeks till over 3 uv sterilizer would be working.

Net positive for me is "buyer beware"

If that sounds testy, i dont mean for it too, Im just giving the rest of the story

I think it is ick season! lol I was just at our lfs (petcetera i think), and their "Blue Rams" which are not actually blue rams but are blue acara are all ick-y as well, lol but they don't tell you that here. I enquired about them and they told me it was stress because they had just got their shipment in. Good thing i know what ick looks like. I argued that he did not know, he argued that he worked in a pet store not me so he knew what he was talking about....so i left and went to petsmart! lol

Since Im a fishaholic, when I have to buy a fish, I have to buy a fish!!! It was withdrawal for days!!

No, I'm a fish room manager, I meant no of MY wholesalers seem to have any issue, I will not buy online even if I didn't work at a LFS

Please tell us why not. Working at a lfs is not exactly a great resume notation.

Nice burn attempt. Working at a LFS give you much more insight to the industy that includes fish prices, availablity of livestock, diseases of all finds, dealing with custy problems that many of you don't encounter. I get to see/use products that many of you do not unless you buy them. Not many people are going to buy three protein skimmers to test to see what works best. I attend trade shows and get to see new products before they are out and get to keep in touch with reps to keep up on the industry like the Reef Crystals info.

As far as not buying online, I guess I like to see what I'm getting.....and I support my locals!!!

Wow, well we don't all have your expertise but I think the collective has a vast amount of knowledge, all one has to do is ask. As far as believing "everything" on the net, well I don't think anyone suffers from that any more than they believe everything a LFS tells them. There is plenty of good and bad info alike on both fronts so it behooves all good aquarists to be very proactive in their research so they can make informed decisions. I have had bad experiences with purchases on line AND at my local LFS.
