Water Current too strong for my fish? So.. in my 5-gallon tank, the filtered water falls from the top into the tank water, creating a small current in the water. I can tell that the water falls pretty strong because it creates tiny bubbles that fall several inches into the water before floating back up. I've noticed that when the fish aren't moving any fins, they drift to the side a lot. Is this current too strong?
I can fill the water up more so that the water level is lined up with where the water falls, thus creating a weaker current that spins the water on the top of tank, rather than falling onto the top of the water.
I thought about creating some kind of plastic apparatus to tape under the filter water-exit to break the water's fall so that it's not so strong, but I'd be afraid the tape would get wet and chemicals would leak into the water.
