adding more gravel

first off my betta died on wednesday, not sure why yet.
ok now my question, i was thinking of adding more gravel to my tank so i could do some really cool aquascaping i have in my head, but i remember reading once that you're not supposed to add new gravel to an established tank.
so is this true and why?

Re: adding more gravel

Your adding gravel, I'm taking out gravel lol

I havent read anything about not adding new gravel, I wonder why not?

edit: i googled adding new gravel to old, cant find any place that says not to. My only thought is, if too much is added, it might throw off the bio load.
