| Crazy fidler crab I have 2 fiddler crabs that were in my 90 gal community tank. I am building them a crab tank out of a 20 gal tank. It will have a suspended beach that they can get to to dig in the sand and get out of the water. Hopefully they will like it. The crazy part is that my female crab had disappered in the community tank. I figured she had died or gotten out and died somewhere because I had not been able to find her for over a week. The other day I saw my dog sniffing something in the kitchen floor. Quite a long way from the aquarium. The crab was alive and I scooped her up and droped her in the 10 gal on top of a plant that sticks up just above the water level. 2 days longer she is doing great. The only problem is I have had to chase her out of the filter 2 times already. I can't figure out how to stop her as she is going up right where the water spills over into the tank. Also the day I put her into the 10 gal, I was looking at her and it looked like she had a buch of little eggs on her underside. It looked like I had seen on websites how female carry eggs. Interestingly I had never figured out the best way to get the male out of the 90 gal, but the day after I found the girl, he was up ontop of some floating plants in the community tank. I have never seen him up there before, but it made it easy to scoop him right up. I put him in the 10 gal with the other crab and he is doing fine so far. When I put him in there, now there is nothing under the female. Would she have layed the eggs somewhere? Did they just get eaten? Any ideas? |
